Beschreibung

Liberalization and globalization has increased the pace of development, especially in developing countries like India, resulting into rapid consumption of energy. The construction sector accounts for the major use of energy. Moreover the operation of buildings consumes more energy than any other activity and consequently lifetime efficiency of buildings is a major determinant of total energy demand. If the current scenario prevails then very soon there will be serious problem of energy crisis. Every action of construction activity includes energy utilization which continues thought the life of building. To reduce the gap between demand and supply energy should be conserved at every possible stage from procuring material to its functioning. This study includes the necessity of embodied energy and its usefulness in practice. It further includes the need, analysis and benefits of adopting innovative construction technologies. Moreover, it highlights the major energy consumption areas during operation of buildings and suggests measures to be incorporated in planning stage to conserve energy and thus lead to sustainability.
