Beschreibung

This book Performance of maize varieties influenced by NPS fertilizer levels will be useful for students of agronomy, agriculture, scientists, agronomists, development agents and professionals working in allied fields. With world population increasing at an alarming rate, there will be a substantial increase in demand of food, fodder and fiber in future. People with knowledge and professional skills in agronomy will have good demand in the coming years. Maize (Zea mays L.) ranks top position in total production among food grains in Ethiopia and plays a crucial role in ensuring food security in the country. Demand of maize is expected to increase due to the high rate of population growth. To fulfill the increasing maize demand, production has to be performed predominantly on the limited existing cultivated land. However, the present maize production system cannot satisfy the high consumer demand with the current national average yield of 3.7 tons per hectare. There is urgent need to enhance production and productivity of maize in Ethiopia.
